Halloween Nails - Two in One

Hey everybody!

Here are the nails I am going to wear tonight for Halloween:

I couldn't decide between the two designs, so I went for both - each on one hand.

I saw this design on youtube. It basically is water marbeling, then add a black stripe and the eyes.
Here is the original video:

These are the polishes I used:

Try to use nudes or browns. If you can, avoid glitter polishes as they are not as opaque. I used them as I didn't have any others. White nail polish as a base helps a lot.

Water marbeling takes me so long. That's why I don't do it often. And it can become a mess...

I think the mummies turned out pretty nice. A little more yellow, but that makes them look even more sandy...!:-)

'Blood Splatter'

Another design that I have seen on youtube. And it is so easy and simple. The mess is far less than with water marbeling.

I think the reason why the mummy design was so messy is that I didn't put tape around my nails. If you don't know how to do it, watch this video.

Here is how to do it:

This time I used tape! ;-) (You can also see my mess from the water marbelling!:-))

It was so much fun, that I have to try this with different or even multiple colours.

This is the red I used:

  • p2 color victiom nailpolish in 120 it's hot!
It's probably the best to use a red without glitter. Makes it more realistic...

When blowing through the straw, you have to blow hard and short. If you use lots of polish to dip the straw in, it becomes easier. Another thing I found, is that you better don't go too close to your nail with the straw as you will get these spots with lots of colour. I mean, they look good but they take forever to dry. Do some test runs to get a feeling for it.

I like them.

Actually, I like both of the design. I am wearing the mummies on my left and the blood on my right hand. Let's see if anyone notices tonight.

Happy Halloween everybody!

Halloween Nails

Hey everybody!
Today I wanted to show you an idea for Halloween nails. It's simple and really can be done by anybody.

This is what you need:

  • p2 color victim nail polish in 741 notice me! (2 coats)
  • a black sharpie
  • MNY glitter polish in 142A [optional]

  • star and moon crystals [optional]

You start with two layers of orange nailpolish. Let dry completely otherwise you can't draw with your sharpie on it. [Optional: Add glitter polish on top]
When dry, draw different shapes on your nails. Like a bat, ghost, hat or pumpkin...
Then you can add some details, like the eyes with a white nail polish. Simply take a tooth pick and dip it into the white polish. Than dot the eyes on the bat and the ghost.
[Optional: If you have, put some cystals on your nails.]
Seal everything with a top coat. That's it. Take a look at the result:

I only used glitter polish on my right finger. It is so much easier to draw the shapes with a sharpie than with a brush and nailpolish. I can't do it! It never looks good...
The thing that takes longest is to wait for the polish to dry.
One last remark: If you recreate this, use lots of clear top coat. Otherwise the colour of the sharpie will smear.

Zoeva - Ultra Shimmer Palette

Hey everyone!

Today is part two of my little Zoeva series. If you haven't seen part one, take a look here.

The Ultra Shimmer Palette looks like this:

packaged in plastic and black cardboard

The palette comes with 88 colours. They are all very shimmery. The pigmentation is really good, but can vary. You then have to pack the colour on your lid.

Here's a close-up:

And here are some swatches. Obviously I couldn't swatch all 88 colours. Instead I swatched one colour from every vertical row. I marked them as you can see in the picture above.

The price for this palette is €16,95. Measurments: 23.5x17.0x1.3cm Size of the pans: 16 mm
Here you can take a look at the palette on Zoeva's website.

And of course I want to show you the colours on my lids:

One eye in blue,

and the other one in green and brown:

I personally have to say that the latter colours look better on me than the blue. :-)

One problem, well, maybe not really a problem for everyone, but for me it is, is that some colours are so much alike that it is hard to remember which shade of brown or which shade of blue I have actually used before. There are so many diffrent shades of one colour..... Do you have the same problem?

Overall a great palette with lots of colours I haven't had in my collection.

Zoeva - Sun Power Palette

Hey guys!
This week I want to show you some Zoeva products I bought a few weeks ago.

Today it is the Sun Power Palette.

The palette comes to you nicely packaged in foil and in black cardboard.

You get get 10 colours. Measurements of the palette: 23.0x10.1x1.2cm Every pan has a diameter of 35 mm. They are quite large!

"Zoeva's Sun Power Blush Palette offers a range of peachy and brown shimmery shades, for a perfectly sun-kissed glow. The powder is formulated to leave your skin with a soft, silky feel. The colors glides on evenly, blends smoothley and adds a luminous pop of color that can be layered."

Pigmentation of these blushes are really good. You have to be careful to blend the blush nicely. The two colours on the right are extremely pigmented. A little goes a long way...

Here are some swatches:

First row left to right

Second row left to right

So you see, you get all the colours for a bronzed look. You have corals, pinks, golds and bronze. You also get a matte brown to use as bronzer. In the summer I used the shimmery gold as a highlighter on my cheek. It looks also great if you use bronze colour as blush and then put a little bit of pink or coral on the appels of your cheeks.

The price you pay for this pigmentation is, honestly, ridiculous. You only pay €12,95. For 10 blushes. Really a great deal!

Another plus is that there is enough space between the pans. You don't have to worry about accidentally picking up some other colour with you blush brush.

Check back this week as I will show you more products by Zoeva.

ANNY - latina & Guestpost Benefit Finding Mr. Bright

Hey everbody!

Here's another Nail of the Day. I used the colour 158 latina by ANNY. It is from the set 'Havanna meets Miami'. Click here for more info.

The glitter polish is from essence in the colour 67 make it golden. I could have also used a silver glitter but I feel gold makes the whole look more fall-ish.

I also wanted to tell you that I wrote a guest post for Paperbacks + Postcards. It's about the Benefit set 'Finding Mr. Bright'. Click here to read it.

Alverde - New products

Hey everybody,
so I got my first package from a company to try some of their products. This feels like christmas!!

Here are the products:

Th pigmentation of these eye shadows is not comparable with the Sleek pigmentation but it's sufficient for a subtle everyday look.

They eyebrow set contains two different brushes. One is angled and one is round. Use the angled one to fill in your brows and the rounded one for the highlight under your brows.

For this eye, I used 'Magic Sand' all over my lid and 'Dark Aubergine' in my crease. On my eyebrow I used the powder from the eyebrow set and the lighter colour as a highlight. Then I used the wax to fix the eyebrows in place

Let's go on with two blushes:

Contains flecks of glitter. Best used at night time. Definitely skip your cheek highlighter. You don't want to end up looking like a disco ball....:-)

Also contains glitter but no flecks. Gives more of a shine rather than a sparkle.

Haven't tried the make up yet on my face. I think it is probably a little bit to yellow for me.

Thanks Alverde for sending me these products!
